Acne and Oily Skin Problems – Treating with Essential Oils
I don’t normally recommend clove oil for use on the skin, especially the face, as it is a very strong oil. However, this is a recipe I’ve used when plagued with an especially painful blemish that refuses to budge. If you choose to use, you are cautioned not to use more clove oil than indicated and do not use on mucus membranes. Also, as always, a skin test is recommended the first time you use an oil.
Persistent Acne Spot Treatment
1 T sweet almond oil
2 drops tea tree essential oil
1 drop lavender essential oil
1 drop clove essential oil
Blend together and apply to spot with Q-tip. Very soothing to painful cystic acne.
Cleansing Formula for Oily Skin with Acne
2 Tablespoons jojoba oil
3 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops atlas cedarwood essential oil
1 drop tea tree essential oil
Combine oils. Apply to oily skin. Rinse.
The use of essential oils is not recommended for the very young or aged, or pregnant/nursing women. It is the belief of this site that essential oils should not be used internally, only externally and topically. A skin test should always be done before using an essential oil, especially important for those more sensitive or vulnerable. Consult a reputable and experienced aromatherapist for guidance. If you are under the care of a physician, it is recommended that you contact them before using essential oils.
