Gentle Homemade Dog Shampoos

Dogs

Recipes for dog shampoos that you can make at home yourself.

According to paw-rescue.org, the following shampoo recipe is a good one for puppies and dogs with extra dry or troubled skin:
1/3 cup glycerin
1 cup lemon Liquid Joy
1 cup white vinegar
1 quart water

Mix together in a liter bottle. Shake the solution before each use to mix thoroughly.

According to kidbiz.com, the following recipe will help to relieve a dog’s dry skin and make his coat shiny:
12 oz Ivory liquid soap
2 oz liquid glycerine
2 oz white vinegar

Put in a gallon container and fill rest with water. Mix.

Another recipe, which is quite a bit like the one above, comes from abigslice.com. They claim it will give your dog a beautiful, healthy coat:
1 pint Ivory or Dove liquid dishwashing soap
1 pint water
1 pint apple cider vinegar
4 ounces glycerine

Mix all of the ingredients together.

Hints:
Glycerine can be found at your local health food store or at many pharmacies.
Baking soda makes a good dry shampoo for those in-between bath times. Just sprinkle on and brush out.
